Go the the Google Spreadsheet “Class Data”.  Your group is responsible for creating a new sheet and placing your data, graph, and conclusions on this spreadsheet.

To create a new sheet: At the bottom of the page, there is a sheet called ”Template”.

Click on the small arrow next to the word ”Template”, and select ”Duplicate”.

Rename the sheet to the variable you are testing (for example, “Length” “Number of Blades”, “Mass”, etc.)   Also add your group members names.

Creating a data table:

Your data table should have two columns.  One column is for your independent variable (each group has a different one).   This is where you will put the thing you are testing.  You need to decide on what values you will try in your experiment.  For example, if you were testing the distance from the fan, you would need to pick several distances (5 cm, 10 cm, 30 cm, 100 cm, etc.).

Your dependent variable (or “responding variable”) is the second column.  The dependent or responding variable is the thing you are measuring.  For all groups, this is voltage.

Do your experiment

Design your blades, build your blades (be careful!), do your experiment (as many trials as possible), and record your data.

Create a Graph

Add a chart (graph) to your sheet.   You will be using the data from your experiment.  You will probably be able to figure out how this is done.  It is very similar to how Excel works.  It should be a scatter plot (NOT a line graph!).  Don’t forget to label the horizontal and vertical axes and add a title.  (hint: click on “edit chart” to find these options)
