Combining extremely technical flying with music–awesome!
A nice place to fly: Hexacopter in Cameroon / Africa from W. Thielicke on Vimeo.
Coolest First Person Video (FPV) flying I have ever seen. Seriously impressive on every level: Mechanically, flying skill, geographically, culturally–just amazing. This guy is quite the pilot…
My latest obsession: Helicopters.
My friend Justan gave me a fun little co-axial helicopter for my birthday and he ignited a new spending spree. I am now the proud ownder of a Walkera V120D02 collective pitch helicopter.
This thing is unbelievably precise, complex and capable. At this point (after maybe 5 hours of flying and 10 hours of fixing!) I can hover quite well tail-in (the easiest move in helicopters…). I can semi-confidently hover side in, and every time I try to bring the nose in, I crash. I also crash when I do stupid things like fly down my hallway (narrow), fly at speed in my bedroom, and fly with lots of distractions around (like neighbors who throw water at my helicopter!!) Blu Baby Trainer links: The “original” Blu Baby Trainer page (over 1000 pages long….sheesh…): http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=681556&highlight=blu+baby Nice pics showing the “monobloc” construction technique : http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=649178 Shows how to do ailerons: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=2044761 Here is a video of the maiden voyage of the Blu Baby. As you can see, things didn’t go so well: I dug a shallow ‘trench’ in the underside of the wing, then hot-glued a bamboo spar (actually two spars joined w/ CA soaked cotton thread). This reinforcement seems to be sufficient! Check out the successful flight: ASB Flight Club Proposal for Flight Club (.pdf) Thank you to Peter J. of the Seacon Square Parking Lot Crashers (my name) for his extremely generous donation of Futaba transmitters and receivers. Our club can now spend it’s money on the fun stuff: Foam! And thank you to Puen R/C (Bangkok) for the generous discounts and hours of assistance.
I love it .. Is it MsNicole talking?
